On 21 December 1989, 6 grave markers in this cemetery were recorded by Robert A. Wiesner. This cemetery is listed with many more grave sites in Kathy Brooks Jones Buffalo Creek Chronicles, Vol. I, page 78. John Stanley inventoried the site in March 2012. He located some, but not all of the markers located by Wiesner and Jones, and located some markers recorded in earlier records but found by neither Wiesner nor Jones. All photos courtesy of John Stanley.

This site was apparently a very early burial ground for Scottish immigrants to the area. The name "Scotch Ever McIver" is said to be the familiar name for Evander McIver. The large cemetery, which appears to be 100'x 83'x82'x43', may have as many as 60 burials. The McIver family plot is adjacent to the larger site, contains nine burials, and is surrounded by a stacked stone wall, 28' by 45'. See sketch by John Stanley. Several McIvers--Alexander, Evander, Daniel and John--received early Chatham land grants.
