      Location - Mangum Township on the northeast side of Quail Roost Road about 2 tenths of a mile off Roxboro Road (NC 501) on the left side of a dirt road near power lines.

      This abandoned cemetery has 12 legibly marked and several unmarked graves enclosed by a crumbling brick wall. The brick wall was topped by an ornate iron fence, but the iron fence and gate has been removed. Canvassed by Jean B. Anderson (1981). This family was prominent in Durham's early days.

      This cemetery was cleaned up in March 2004 by members of the Rougemont United Methodist Church under the leadership of member John Anderson. Cleanup picture. Pictures of cemetery and grave markers by Allen Dew in April 2004.


  1. Henderson, Elizabeth E. Parker   (b. 10 Feb 1819 - d. 10 Jan 1847)
      • Daughter of Abner and Mary (Polly) Horner Parker. Spouse - Ludolphus Henderson. Married 3 May 1837. Age 27 yrs 11 mos. Carving of weeping willow tree on top of marker.
  2. Holt, Mary L. W. Parker   (b. 12 Jun 1835 - d. 1 Mar 1856)
      • Spouse - Edwin M. Holt. Age 20 yrs 8 mos 19 days. Adolphus Mangum's diary shows death date as May 1, 1856. 'Mary hath chosen that good part which shall not be taken from her. Luke: 10 ch 12 vs.' 'When we think of thee - of heaven our second thought will be.'
  3. Parker, Abner (Col)   (b. 1 Sep 1795 - d. 27 Dec 1854)
      • Spouse - Mary (Polly) Horner Parker. Son of David Parker and Clara Mangum. Age 59y 3m 27d. He committed suicide after the loss of all his children and the death of his Wife a year earlier.

  5. Parker, Mary (Polly) Horner   (b. 27 Feb 1799 - d. 30 Dec 1853)
      • Spouse - Col. Abner Parker. age 54y 10m 3d. Daughter of Thomas N. and Sarah Fussell Horner.
  6. Parker, Sally L.   (b. 17 Jun 1821 - d. 12 Jul 1846)
      • Daughter of Col. Abner and Mary (Polly) Horner Parker. Age 25 yrs 25 days.
  7. Parker, Sarah Parrish   (b. 1 Feb 1795 - d. 27 Jun 1846)
      • Spouse - Harrison Parker. Age 51y 4m 26d. 'Sacred to the memory of'
  8. Parker, Willie D. C.   (b. 14 Oct 1828 - d. 20 Mar 1846)
      • Son of Col. Abner and Mary (Polly) Horner Parker. Age 18 yrs 5 mos 6 days.
