In the spring of 1881 a petition was presented to Fayetteville Presbytery to establish a church in the White Hill area. The name "White Hill" was derived from the whitish, sandy soil found on this small hillside. This petition was granted and a church, White Hill Presbyterian was established. The original membership was 43 members, all of whom brought certificates of membership from nearby Presbyterian churches of Union, Buffalo, and Euphronia. Many current members trace their ancestry back to the original 43 members. The first church was dedicated on July 19, 1896. White Hill remained in the Fayetteville Presbytery until 1923 when Lee County churches were placed in Orange Presbytery. Since its origin in 1881, White Hill has increased by nearly four times the original membership. In addition to the church building it now has a fellowship hall, cook building, and a pastoral manse.

Wife of 1) Unknown Wall and 2) Woodrow Wilson Baker. Kathleen Lemons Wall Baker, 90 of Sanford peacefully passed away at Sanford Health and Rehab Center. She was born in Lee County to the late Hugh and Gola Cole Lemons. She retired from Blue Bell and Four Seasons Apparel as a seamstress. Kathleen was a member of White Hill Presbyterian Church. In 1964, she married Woodrow Baker who predeceased her. Kathleen was also preceded in death by her son, Gary Wall, two sisters, Bertha Bullard and Ora Lee Hickman, and three brothers Edward Lemons, Hugh Lemons, and Robert Lemons. Surviving are two sons, Jimmy Ray Wall (Shirley), Ronald Wayne "Red" Wall (Debbie), and daughter-in-law, Marti Wall, all of Sanford. Also surviving are six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Arrangements were handled by Rogers Pickard Funeral Home in Sanford, NC. Services were conducted at White Hill Presbyterian Church in Sanford, NC with burial in the church cemetery.
