Five Persons Drown Last Sunday Near Snow Hill While Boat Riding, Bodies Found.

Vannie Carrington and wife, Adrian Carrington and two daughters of Zeno Brilely (this paper was unable to secure their names) were all drowned within two miles of Snow Hill Sunday afternoon in Moccasin River. Their bodies were all recovered yesterday and the remains passed through Greenville this morning enroute to Stokes where the funeral and interment took place this afternoon in the family burying ground of the Carringtons, two miles from Stokes.

How the parties were drowned is not known as there was no living witness to the tragedy. The surmise is that while boating on the river the boat in some way overturned and they met their death. There was only one member of the party that could swim, this being Adrian Carrington.

All five of the unfortunate resided within two miles of Snow Hill, but they were reared near Stokes.
