African-American; was once the African American school in Elkin.
According to Justice Hayes, St. Home church gets its name as follows: The New Home congregation moved the church to Oak Grove Street in Elkin, NC. There was also a church by the name of St. Paul Baptist Church. Both congregations were small and decided to join congregations. They took the St. from St. Paul church and the Home from New Home church and hence the name St. Home Baptist Church.
