396    VENABLE, JESSE FAMILY CEMETERY

Location - Jackoos Lane, Dobson, Surry Co., NC.

Directions: From intersection of I-77 and Zephyr Rd (west of Dobson), go west a short distance and turn Right on White Dirt Rd (just past Salem Fork Christian Church). Then go 0.9 miles and turn Left on Jackoos Lane. Then go 0.3 miles, cross a bridge, and take the lowest drive into a complex of chicken hourses. Continue past the 2nd shed and walk into the woods, cross a small creek, then walk to the beginning of a hill and look for the old roadbed of Old Twin Oaks/Low Gap Rd) which goes uphill. Go up the roadbed to the top of the hill and look for a barbed wire fence. Follow the fence into some tall pines on the left side of the fence. The graves are about 25 feet uphill (south) from the fence and 25 feet east of the roadbed, and are next to an area that has been clear cut.

Status of cemetery:  Abandoned.

In early January 2010, Jack Luffman and Chris Laster cleaned off the cemetery, placed a sign, and marked it off with a yellow rope fence around the cemetery. There are 13 stones in the cemetery, but some are unreadable. Dobbins and Haymore family records state the following are buried here:
