      Location - Baldwin Township. At 650 Half Dollar Rd. At the end of Half Dollar Rd, about 350' west of Great Ridge Parkway and .85 mi south of Mann's Chapel Rd.

      Cemetery reported by Gerald Oldham and John Hundley, Chapel Hill. On 4 January 1997, Will and Audrey Heiser visited the cemetery, accompanied by the owner, Clayton Dollar, and recorded one double headstone and 2 field stones.

      Included in the Aug 2006 report entitled "An Intensive Cultural Resource Investigation: Briar Chapel, Chatham County, NC. ESI Report of Investigations No. 949, ER 06-023" Site number designation 31CH808. That report indicates that there are 6 graves, all but one marked by either a head or footstone. There are sunken areas with fieldstone markers outside of the fenced area, although these are not mentioned in the ESI report. Periwinkle covers the area, which is overgrown with briars and brush. A single modern headstone bears the only legible inscription. The site was photographed by Bev Wiggins on 3 Mar 2011 during a site visit with Jane Pyle, Lynn Richardson, and Lee Bowman.

      Abandoned: Yes.
      Number of graves: 7+.
      Cemetery size: 20' x 25'.
      White: Yes.
      Restricted access: Yes. On private property
      Overgrown and easy to identify: Yes.
      Enclosed: Yes.
      Enclosed explanation: Wire fence and gate.
      Enclosed conditions: Fair, although briars and brush obscure it and nearly block gate.
      Markers: Yes.
      Markers with inscriptions: Yes.
      Number of readable markers: 2.
      Last burial: 1900.
      First burial: 1873.
      Other damage explanation: Area covered with periwinkle, briars and brush.
      Hazards: Neglect.

      Listed: Gravesites of Chatham County. Included in the Aug 2006 report entitled "An Intensive Cultural Resource Investigation: Briar Chapel, Chatham County, NC. ESI Report of Investigations No. 949, ER 06-023" Site number designation 31CH808. That report indicates that there are 6 graves, all but one marked by either a head or footstone. No mention is made of the graves outside of the fenced area, but sunken areas with fieldstone markers were observed outside the fenced area on 3Mar11 by Wiggins and Pyle.
