He was retired from UNC Chapel Hill, was a member of New Elam Christian Church and was a member of Apex Masonic Lodge No. 584 AF&AM. Surviving is his wife Myrtle Phillips Jones of the home. Sons, Ray Jones and wife Wenona of Marston, NC and Phillip Jones of Moncure, NC. Son in law Phil Poythress of Chapel Hill, NC, four granddaughters and four great grandsons. Arrangements were handled by the Smith Funeral Home of Broadway. Services were held at New Elam Christian Church with burial in the church cemetery with Masonic Rites.
