Francis Asbury preached in the neighborhood in 1780. The Church was founded by 1815, when the Deep River Circuit was organized.
On 29 April 1972, W. Harold Broughton recorded 281 grave markers. In 1993, Leonard Gunter recorded 454 grave markers which were typed by May Kerr, 10 March 1993. These included seventy-two (72) grave markers for burials before 1972, which had not been recorded by Broughton and one hundred (100) grave markers for burials after 1972. Leonard Gunter and May Kerr added many family relationships based on their own personal knowledge. In June 1995, May Kerr recorded several more burials, and Leonard Gunter updated the list in 2008. The cemetery was visited by Will and Audrey Heiser in June 1995. A representative of the church sends periodic updates of the burials.
Some photographs were provided by Jane and Alan Mann in 2011. Photographs of all grave markers provided by Bill Smith in June 2013. The survey was updated and all markers photographed in April 2013 by William Smith and Renny Kremer, who also provided a detailed listing of the burials in the cemetery by plot and information about veterans buried in the cemetery. Since 2020, Beverly Kay has provided lists of additions to the cemetery, along with photographs.
