In 1984 Martha Harrington reported to the North Carolina Cemetery Survey that Annie Utley was told as a child that an unplowed area was the site of Yankee graves. The story is reported in Kathy Brooks Jones, Buffalo Creek Chronicles, Vol. I. The site was visited on 12 Oct 2019 by Boe Goodwin, who provided a photograph. He described the spot as raised and unlike the rest of the forest in that area.

Significant events: Annie Utley, previous owner, was told by her father (who owned the place before her), that there were Yankee graves in this place and that the Yankees placed guards at the graves when they were first buried.
