Miscellaneous information: Sparse periwinkle. Three sunken spots in a raw -- definitely graves. There are possibly other graves. Ground has been disturbed. Area timbered 10-15 years ago, probably before that as well.. Last canvassed by: J&B Wiggins, Kathleen Hundley. Date: February 8, 2009.
On 8 Feb 2009, Bev and Jim Wiggins were shown to the site by Kathleen Hundley. Only one inscribed gravestone marker was found, with clear indications of at least 2 other burial sites, and possibly others. Ground has been disturbed by timbering. The single inscribed stone is a large sandstone tablet, broken off near the base. Lettering is well-done and well preserved. "N"s are printed backward. "Born" is spelled "aborned."
Will book B/8 contains the 1818 will of William Pattishall (spelled "Pattisawl"), indicating landholdings of several hundred acres and several slaves. The will lists wife Mary; sons John, Benjamin, William, Pleasant (to whom William Sr. leaves his doctor books), and Alexander; and daughters Rebecca Lasater and Polly Pattishall. Executors are John Pattishall and Thomas Clegg.
The overgrown and difficult-to-locate site was cleaned up in February 2016 by Jim and Luan Harmeson, Jack and Charlee Moore, who added a cedar fence to protect the site.
