      HISTORY: From about 1863 until 1874 this cemetery was used by members of Muddy Creek Baptist Church. In 1874 that congregation built a new church in Clemmons and changed the name (see Clemmons First Baptist.) In 1882 Muddy Creek Church was organized at the site previously used by the Baptists. Rev. Richard Poindexter served the church during its earliest years. The present church was built in 1924.

      Among about 34 charter members were the Brindles, Mullicans, Cornishes and Nelsons. A family plot for the Mullicans includes 16 graves surrounding a family monument.
