      Location - on the north side of Hwy I-85 on the west side of NC Hwy 61 at the interchange at Whitsett.

      The Clapps Chapel AME Church is on the south side of Hwy I-85 off the east side of NC Hwy 61 off Josey Rd at the end of Piney Grove Rd. Church address is: 1301 Piney Grove Rd, Whitsett, NC 27377.

      Directions: If coming from Durham on 85/40, take a right at exit for Hwy 61. Truck Stop on right. To left is a dirt road and cemetery is up that road on left. You will be able to see cemetery from highway 61. From Winston Salem, Charlotte on 85/40 exit at Hwy 61 on right, take a left on 61 to dirt road on left. From Whitsett, go south on 61, take right on dirt road (T/A truck stop on left). From parts South on 61 take left on to dirt road opposite T/A truck stop.

      Cemetery is located in open field and maintained. It has a gate, but you will be able to park at end of dirt road. Cemetery dates back to 1895. First church built October 25, 1895. Highway 85/40 misplaced church and cemetery; however, cemetery still active.

      Church history plaque: Built Oct 25, 1895; Rebuilt Sep 10, 1968; Rev. J.R. Cheek.
