      About 3 miles south of Smithfield on Hwy 301. It is a perpetual care cemetery and well kept. It has a large mausoleum in the center of cemetery.

        45. Husband of Joyce Dixon Eason. Mr. Roger T. Eason, 75, of Dunn, died at his home. Roger was born in Princeton, N.C. son of the late Theodore and Myde Elizabeth Woodard Eason. Roger was a 1961 graduate of Smithfield High School and attended East Carolina University. He worked as a welder for one year. His father, Ted Eason, owned a furniture store in Clayton and kept insisting that he go to work for him.it lasted about 30 days!! For sure, the furniture business was not for him! This decision produced a need to pursue a new profession. Roger was told that Carolina Telephone & Telegraph was hiring, so off to Tarboro, NC to fill out an application he went. They hired him the same day of the interview and asked where he wanted to work..he said, "Close to Smithfield, but not in Smithfield!" They told him about an opening in Dunn. Roger asked, "Where is Dunn?" They said, "About 6 miles from Benson." He said, "I'll take it!" Little did he know how making this decision would affect the rest of his life. After working two years with Carolina Telephone, the Vietnam War began. Roger was drafted in November of 1965. He served on year in Vietnam as a combat medic. He came back to Carolina Telephone in 1967. Roger had saved his money and paid cash for a new "1967 Sports Fury Plymouth." This was a very instrumental tool in how he met his lovely wife Joyce. You see, she noticed the car LONG before she noticed Roger.True. They were married February 11, 1968. This date was chosen because it was his parents, Myde & Ted, wedding date also. Roger worked with Carolina Telephone & Telegraph through three name changes.ending up Sprint. After thirty-Nine years, he retired, only to go back into business for himself as retirement was not for him. He moved forward to opening his own business called Eason Communications. Roger enjoyed attending Gospel Tabernacle Church, especially Sunday School. He loved ALL sports, especially BASEBALL. He was an avid supporter of NCSU and the Triton High School Baseball program. Roger is survived by his wife, Joyce Dixon Eason; sons, Rodney Eason and wife Shannon of Dunn and Clay Eason and wife Holly of Bloomington, Indiana; grandchildren, Amanda Johnson and husband Zack, Ashlynn Bylery and husband Ben, Audrey and Issac; great grandchild, Mary Scott Johnson; and sister, Susan Hill of Smithfield. Arrangements were handled by Skinner and Smith Funeral Home of Dunn, NC. Funeral service were held at Gospel Tabernacle Church and burial followed at Hills of Neuse Memory Gardens in Smithfield.
