Surveyed by Shirley Olson on July 20, 2000.
It is a fast developing area where tobacco fields are giving way to subdivisions. The road derives it's name from the dairy farming Franks family, many of whom are interred at Catawba Springs Christian Church Cemetery. Their former dairy farm at Penny Road and Blaney Franks Road is now an enclave of large handsome homes with a view of Lake Wheeler.
The church was organized in 1802. The cemetery is neat and well cared for and most of the headstones are in very good condition. A few are worn and difficult to read. They are positioned facing East or West, with some having inscriptions on the East side of the markers and some are inscribed on the West side. Comment are included on the condition of the marker if it is less than good. Note: There are "gaps" throughout the cemetery and a few sunken spots.

Wife of Franklin Coolidge Pierce. Mrs. Evelyn "Chubby" Kamis Pierce, 90, of Fuquay-Varina went to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior, at Green Leaf Care Center in Lillington. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Charles Kamis and Rose Kamis King. She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Coolidge Pierce, her sister Melanie Pierce, and her Aunt Annie Spenger. Mrs. Pierce retired from Wake Christian Academy where she served as a teacher and Elementary Principal for over 30 years. Chubby was loved by her family and friends. She was "one of a kind." Her creativity and spunk made life exciting for everyone around her. She loved entertaining and planning events. She was never afraid of a challenge, and she looked at every obstacle in life as an opportunity to problem solve. She considered the word "can't" a personal "challenge." She cherished her students and their parents, teachers, friends and neighbors, and her family. She was a friend to many, a mother to four, a grandmother to twelve, a great-grandmother to twenty-eight, always a teacher at heart, and a proud Czech American. For over seventy years, she served in her husband's churches. She sang in choirs, directed Bible schools, Christmas programs, taught Sunday school, helped with Christian camps and taught Bible studies. At the center of her life was her love for Jesus Christ. She served in her community as a PTO President, participated in the Women's Club, led backyard Bible clubs, youth Bible studies, and acted as a Theatrical Director for the Fuquay youth.
