      Directions - from the intersection of Hwy. 70 south and Hwy. 50 (Benson Hwy.). Go north on Benson Hwy for 2/10 mi.to Garner Rd. Turn east-southeast (right) and go 8/10 mi. to the church and cemetery on the north side (left side) of the road.

      From Wake Co. land records: The property is owned by Hayes Chapel Christian Church and contains 3.14 acres total. The cemetery has 2.14 acres with room for more burials.

      Note by Kay Whaley: originally there were 3 cemeteries there, which are now combined into one, Hayes Chapel Church Cemetery. At one time the section to the right of the church was a cemetery known as Garner City Cemetery which was a privately owned cemetery owned by the Buffaloe Family. This was purchased by the church and folded into their cemetery. On the left side of the church there was a small black cemetery known as the Haywood Cemetery.

      Note by Mrs. Deborah Scott Spencer in November 2009: Hayes Chapel Christian Church went by the following names (according to a letter from Mr. Creech, Trustee of the church dated 1995)
      1. Garner City Cemetery (name changed to Hayes Chapel Christian Church)
      2. Broughton Family Cemetery (incorporated into Hayes Chapel Christian Church)
      3. Garner Christian Church, the same as Garner City Cemetery (name changed to current Hayes Chapel Christian Church)
      4. The Garner Graveyard (the same as Garner Christian Church, Garner City Cemetery, changed to current Hayes Chapel Christian Church)
      5. Haywood Cemetery (incorporated into Hayes Chapel Christian Church)
