184 STEDMAN FAMILY
Location - 3/10 mile west of the intersection of Maynard Rd.(SR 1415) and High House Rd. (SR 1615), in Cary, on the south side of the road.
Surveyed by Shirley Olson on May 15, 2004.
Just prior to the transmission wires overhead, a new road leads into a freshly laid out subdivision, roads not yet completed. About 50 ft. straight ahead there is an oak and pine covered area, full of scrubby growth and ground cover less than 1/2 acre in size, and currently enclosed in protective temporary plastic fence. You can drive in and park although the road is rough and not yet paved. This is an abandoned cemetery that will, I hope, be preserved. Caution is required since there are deep epressions caused by the graves sinking.
This cemetery was disclosed to me by Det. Marcus Pearson, Cary Police, who came across it while attempting to locate the proper location of a headstone that was abandoned in Cary.
There are 4 or more sunken graves in addition to these. There is so much undergrowth that it is hard to be exact.
