      Directions: from the intersection of US Hwy 52 N and NC Hwy 89 W (W. Pine St) in Mt. Airy, go west 0.7 mile on NC Hwy 89 to the stoplight in Toast. Then turn left on S. Franklin Rd and go one block to the next stoplight and turn right on Toast Rd. Stay on Toast Rd for 0.7 mile and turn left on Red Brush Rd and go about 7 miles and turn left on Fish River Church Rd. (next to Blues Grove Baptist Church and cemetery). Then go 0.8 mile and the cemetery is to the left of the road, in a small grove of trees in the middle of a pasture.

      Public or private: Private property. Requires permission to access.
      GPS Accuracy (Ft.) 15.
      Elevation: 1140 feet.

      Miscellaneous notes: In a grove of trees which sit in the very middle of an operating cattle farm. Luckily Paul McCraw and David Hawkins found the owner/operator Danny Holt near his farm, and he made it possible for us to drive right to the cemetery. Wallace Kallam in his survey trip in the early 1990's found "field rocks well rooted, very deep in earth, one time could read few names, now all worn off - counted 16 adult graves ". V-13 Pg:99-100.

      • Son of Jessie Riggs and Lydia Hodges Riggs. "CO A 28 NC REGT CSA" - Enlisted 4 May 1861. Mustered out as SERG on 4 Feb 1865. Severely wounded at Jones Farm VA requiring amputation on an arm.

      • Markings visible, barely legible name "Lydy R", other notations not legible. Wife of Jessie Riggs, married 28 Oct 1830.
