Wife of Charles N. Fields. Beatrice Coggins Fields 91, of Sanford passed away. She was born in Lee Co, the daughter of the late John M. Coggins and Mary Bullard Coggins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Charles N. Fields and a sister, Hortense Thomas Holder. Mrs. Fields worked at the National Bank of Sanford, Southern National Bank, and for Lee Co Government in the finance offices and Assistant County Manager, after 30 years of service. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, the Carrington McNeill Vanguard Sunday School Class, Women of the Church serving several offices. Bea was presented an Honorary Life Membership by the Women of the Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Sanford Business and Professional organizations. She loved gardening and sharing her flowers with others. Mrs. Fields was a graduate of Greenwood High School and attended Campbell College. Mrs. Fields is survived by her sons, Neil Fields of Sanford and Steve Fields (Renee) of Raleigh; sisters, Maxine Yarborough (John), Marcella Gittins and Nancy Perrell all of Sanford; sister in law, Margaret Fields Hackney of New Bern; grandsons, Nolan, Michael, and Matthew Fields; many beloved nieces and nephews. Arrangements were handled by Rogers Pickard Funeral Home of Sanford, NC. Services were held at First Presbyterian Church in Sanford with burial at Buffalo Cemetery in Sanford, NC.
